Privacy Policy

This website (rachellee.org) is the personal portfolio of Rachel Lee. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, how it's used, and the choices you have. By using this website, you agree to the practices described below.

In short: I use privacy-respecting analytics to understand what visitors read and click, so I can improve the site's design and usability. I never sell your information, and I never share it for advertising. The only people who look at the analytics are me and my web developer.

What I collect

Information you give me directly: none is required to browse the site. The only way you share personal information is if you choose to email me — in which case I receive your email address and whatever you write.

Information collected automatically (analytics): when you visit, analytics tools automatically collect technical and usage information, including:

• Pages you view and how long you spend on them
• Links and buttons you click, and how far you scroll
• Approximate, city-level location (derived from your IP address; a full IP address is not stored by these tools)
• Your device type, browser, operating system, and screen size
• The site or link that referred you here
• Anonymized session replays — a recording of on-page interactions like mouse movement, clicks, and scrolling. Text you type (for example, in any field) is masked and not recorded.

I do not collect names, payment details, or accounts, because the site has no sign-ups, no store, and no forms.

The tools I use

• Google Tag Manager — loads and manages the tools below.
• Google Analytics 4 (Google) — measures traffic and how pages are used.
• Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft) — provides heatmaps and anonymized session replays to show how visitors navigate.

Google and Microsoft process this data on my behalf as service providers. Their handling of data is also governed by their own privacy policies:

Cookies

These tools use cookies and similar technologies to recognize returning visits and measure usage. You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings (see "Your choices" below). Blocking them will not break the site.

How I use the information

Only to understand what content visitors engage with and how they move through the site, so I can improve the layout, navigation, and overall experience. That's it.

Who sees it

The analytics and reports are viewed by two people: me (Rachel Lee) and my web developer. I do not sell your information, and I do not share it with any third party for advertising or marketing. The only third parties involved are the analytics providers named above, acting on my behalf.

Your choices

You can opt out of analytics at any time:

• Adjust or clear cookies in your browser settings.
• Use a tracking/ad blocker (for example uBlock Origin, or Brave's built-in shields) — these block Google Analytics and Clarity.
• Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
• Enable "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control in your browser, where supported.

Data retention

Analytics data is kept only for a limited time. Google Analytics is configured to retain event- and user-level data for 2 months, and Microsoft Clarity retains session data according to its standard retention period, after which it is automatically deleted.

Links to other sites

This portfolio links to external sites (such as LinkedIn and downloadable files). Once you leave rachellee.org, this policy no longer applies, and those sites' own privacy policies govern your visit.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
